What started as one small restaurant and one big idea has now become a global fast-food phenomenon.
1972: Opened our doors to sell spicy, New Orleans-style chicken.
1976: Launched our first franchise restaurant in Louisiana.
1980: Introduced our famous “Love That Chicken From Popeyes” tagline.
1984: Debuted globally and expanded to Toronto, Canada.
1985: Opened our 500th restaurant in Landover, Maryland, putting the brand on equal footing with national competitors.
1991: Expanded our international presence to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
1997: Celebrated 25 years of success.
1999: Surpassed the one-billion-dollar annual sales mark for the first time.
2002: Celebrated our 30-year anniversary.
2010: Launched our Bonafide® positioning, and reinvented ourselves as Popeyes® Louisiana Kitchen based on our long-standing Louisiana roots, which included a new logo, distinctive new products and a new advertising campaign stating “Louisiana Fast.”
2011: Ramped up our international presence and opened our 2,000th restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee.
2012 Celebrated our 40th anniversary
2019: Introduced the Chicken Sandwich which took the world by storm and had visitors queuing up for miles.
2020: Completely redesigned our visual identity and restaurant image with a more modern approach to reflect the unadulterated joy and culinary depth that goes into making Popeyes food.
2021: Jubilant Foodworks brought the joy to India with the launch of Popeyes® in Bengaluru, paving the way for Indian guests to enjoy Popeyes® world-famous menu items, including the brand's Iconic Chicken Sandwich.
